Mark Twain's Happiest Home

After visiting the temple site we drove into Hartford and stopped at Mark Twain's (aka Samuel Clemens) home.  He and his family lived there for 17 years.  It is here that he wrote Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. We did the tour of the house which was fascinating.  They spared no expense when it was built in 1874.  They paid $45,000 and the details inside were impressive.  It has been restored with the help of his middle daughters input before she died in 1962.  After touring the Twain house we were able to walk over to the house that Harriet Beecher Stowe lived in.  It was also very nice but much more simple than her neighbors house was!
Built in 1874 using a red brick

No pictures were allowed inside--but it was pretty fancy
