Baby Shower
Angela did a baby shower for her sister-in-law today. After weeks of planning and preparation the shower went off without a hitch. I can't say enough how proud I am of Angela and what she does. Her talents are endless and we have all benefited from her efforts. I have to also say she came up with some really fun games. Did I mention that she is awesome!!!

Unexpected!
In February I was called to serve as a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 856. I gladly accepted but was quickly overwhelmed trying to learn everything and organize the program so that it would be enjoyable for the boys and doable for me. I have to say that this has been one of the most "joyful" experiences that I have ever had. There are a number of reasons but one of the main ones has been that the boys are so sweet and appreciative of anything that you do for them. I now look at everything with a thought in the back of my mind "I think the boys would like that!" How grateful I am that I have been given this challenge. I have learned much about myself and in some ways I have been proud of what we are accomplishing together. The sad part about this is that the boys grow up and go away. I have lost my first two Webelos and have honestly been pained at their leaving. Who would have thought that would happen. I have said for some time that as senior citizens we need to step up to the plate--we are healthier and are living much longer than in years past and even if we retire from a job we can't retire from life. I am now one of those people who find that although I am exhausted after each meeting, I am also invigorated with the fun that the boys and I had together. What a joyful journey I am on!

Field Trip!
I got to go on Ava's field trip to Victor Bowl. It was a blast! Watching kindergarteners lug that big ball up to the line and throw it with all their might was amazing. I had 3 girls and 3 boys that I was responsible for and they were so well behaved and were so proud of each other when they knocked down a pin. What a great day I had and I think Ava really enjoyed herself. I asked the kids at the end who won the game and they all raised their hands. They were right--they were all winners!!! Have I said lately how much I love being retired?
Visiting Bill in San Diego
Scott and I were able to go to San Diego on Thursday to spend the day with Bill. He was speaking at a conference put on by the Ruth Institute which focuses on the importance of marriage. We had a great time together. We visited the Midway, had lunch at the Chicken Pie Restaurant, went to the church bookstore, and strolled around Seaport Village before taking Bill over to the meeting. This is the third year we have been able to spend the day with Bill before he presents and it is something I look forward to each time. If we could just figure out how to get the rest of the family here the day would be perfect!
