Aunt Rozi

Earlier this morning Rozanne Duncan passed away.  She was Grandpa's sister.  I've had the privilege of spending time with Rozi when she came to live with her daughter Heidi.  The care Heidi gave her was inspiring.  Both of Rozi's children, TJ and Heidi have been wonderful to give care to their mom.  I know they will miss her but I am also grateful she will be at peace after years of struggle with health issues.

Christmas Eve!

Tonight the Whitney's came over for our Christmas Eve dinner.  Tomorrow I'm going over for Christmas morning and then Christmas dinner.  We had tamales, tacos, refried beans, rice, whipped jello salad, and nachos with a cheese dip.  It was all great but the company was the best!  I love living in Arizona again.  Tonight I am watching It's a Wonderful Life.   I started thinking about the first time I met grandpa.  How different my life would have been if I hadn't.  We met in August of 1970 and he proposed the week after Christmas 53 years ago.  We married in July of 1971.  I still miss him but I am so very grateful for the time we had to spend together.  We had a wonderful life! And I don't doubt that it will continue to be so!

Christmas Concert

Another excellent Christmas Concert at Highland High.  Jane and her other orchestra members put on an amazing show.  I was glad I got to go and enjoy some special Christmas music.  At the end, members of the orchestra go down and fill the aisles and serenade us.  It was wonderful!

Morocco

Lexy and Ellis are coming to an end of their study abroad.  They were originally scheduled to finish out their time in Israel but because of the war they instead had the opportunity to go to Morocco and I believe they will also be going to Spain.  Ellis wrote to say that they were really enjoying there time there.  He said that each city they visited were very unique.  He finished his email to me saying, "We're having a great time but looking forward to being back in the US.  I miss driving and having phone service."

Advent Calendar

Aunt Amy made this advent calendar for their family.  Each day they do whatever the card says.  Today Eden came home from school and told her mom that she turned around and let a boy go ahead of her.  On Monday night for their Family Home Evening they made care packages for the homeless.  I had two of them in my car.  Yesterday after I picked Duncan up at school we came to a stop light and a homeless man was standing at the intersection.  Right away Duncan grabbed one of the bags and we gave it to the man.  It was such a wonderful feeling and he seemed so happy that we gave him something.  The bag had socks, wet wipes, bottled water, and some small food items with a little note that the kids made for the bags.  I appreciated so much the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful activity.

Bumper Sticker!

Yesterday I attended my weekly religion class.  For the past year we have been studying The New Testament and this week the discussion was from Revelations 1-5.  The teacher shared this picture.  She quoted someone who said: Here is "the bumper sticker" version of the Book of Revelations. I loved it and wanted to share it with all of you.

Happy Birthday Meg!

 25 Years Old

Thanksgiving in Jordan

I don't know if they had turkey at their Thanksgiving get-together with the other BYU students.  But I'm sure whatever Lexy and Ellis contributed it would have been good.  The big news for their Thanksgiving was the celebration and recognition for completing the work he went there to do.  Good job Ellis!  Now they are heading to Morocco and then to Spain since going to Israel was no longer an option.

Thanksgiving in Mexico!

Wait--there is no Thanksgiving in Mexico.  But from what Ruth told her mom when she called  home on Monday she was extremely thankful for the sister missionaries who are serving with her in the area.  Ruth's apartment still has no electricity so they are staying with the other missionaries in their apartment.  She told her mom that she got seriously ill with a bad headache, then a high fever and chills, followed by vomiting and (you can probably figure that one out).  She was seriously sick and much of the time unaware of what was happening.  But she said that each of the sisters took turns sitting by her bed and wiped her face and kept cool rags on her until the fever broke.  She loves them so much and it seems that  they feel the same about her.

Ava

Ava was able to finish out the football season at a band and color guard competition.  Previous to this competition her color guard team earned first place at an area competition.  While Perry was visiting he was able to watch her when they competed state wide in Sacramento.  Her guard earned third place in the state competition.  In the Spring she will be finishing up her time in high school with a final set of competitions before she graduates.  Way to go Ava!
