It is not just the end of the journey that counts. It's also the journey. It's how we get there. It's who we are becoming along the way and the good we are doing today.

Lexy sent me this picture and wrote "I have the best calling!" I smiled because she is right but even more important is that the ward has the best nursery leader!
Turning 9 was a lot of fun for Graham. On Friday night he was joined by his friends for a pool party. And was impressed by his birthday cake baked and decorated by Jane. It was a "Under the Sea" theme. On Saturday morning he had his birthday breakfast of crepes and spent time putting together all the gifts he received from his friends the night before. In the afternoon he was taken to Swig for a sweet drink and then they went to Fat Cats for some indoor miniature golfing. Saturday it was off to In and Out Burger and then home for his favorite angel food cake with strawberries, nutella, and whipped cream. And of course more presents. It was a great birthday!
Ruth is coming home for a week before returning for her final weeks as a youth counselor serving in Provo and then on to Colorado and back to Provo. She has lots of positive things to say about all she was able to do while there. A bonus this week is two of the General Young Women leaders joined them and Ruth got to have her picture taken with them!
Duncan doesn't always have much to say and when he shares anything it is always a wonderful treat. He left on Monday morning to attend the For the Strength of Youth program in Flagstaff. This week Ruth in in Provo doing her counseling for the youth there. I have enjoyed a number of texts from him and this morning he sent me two pictures. He said he was having fun!
| I don't know if he made this bed but if he did I'm really impressed! |
Miriam is now sharing her space with a new cat. His official name is Purrrceptor/Oreo. I'm calling him Purrsy! He seems to be settling in really well.
Dads are ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story tellers and life long friends! Happy Father's Day to some of the finest men I know!
Today was a great day to hike if you are in Utah. If you live in Gilbert, it's a great day to stay inside and run the air conditioner!
Uncle Christian got a new toy a while ago. Unfortunately he found out the hard way that it's not a toy. It was originally purchased so that he could burn the weeds out of the rocks in their yard. This weekend things got a little out of control. Acccording to my inside source she was inside when she heard him yell for help. She yelled for Jane to bring her phone and come outside with her so she could call 911. When she rushed outside she was happy to see that he wasn't on fire but that the neighbors bush was. They grabbed a hose and started pouring water on it and a neighbor also rushed over with a fire extinquisher and joined the effort. I suspect that for Father's Day Uncle Christian will be getting a hoe and the toy (not a toy) will probably disappear from the garage! So unlike Moses, Christian didn't have a spiritual awakening--just a fun (because it didn't end in tragedy) embarassing moment that I don't plan to let him live down for some time!
Ruth just finished her first week at FSY and from what she told her mom is was a great experience. I'm sure the kids she worked with felt the same way! Here are some pictures she sent me. This group left on Saturday and a new group comes on Monday. After they leave she will be home for a week before going back for more!
Although Ava graduated a year early, and attended her local community college for a semester and then another semester doing on-line classes at BYU, she continued as a seminary student at church. Each morning she was in class with other high school students at 7 a.m. learning the gospel. This year Caleb will begin to take seminary classes as he begins his freshman year. Ava set a great example for her brother to follow!
Lincoln and his fellow students hiked up Mt. Olympus to the mythological home of the Greek gods. Since they are myths he didn't meet any of them but it appears that he had a great time with his new friends!
