It is not just the end of the journey that counts. It's also the journey. It's how we get there. It's who we are becoming along the way and the good we are doing today.

A Tribute To...
Cathy, Angela, Becky, Amy
This last week I had the privilege of watching four of the most kind and compassionate women that I get to call mine. Each of them are unique and yet so alike in character and commitment. I loved watching them interact with each other and with their children. I know why I have the most amazing grandchildren.
Cathy opened her home to all of us. In spite of all that was required of her she stepped up and made everyone who came into her home feel loved and welcomed. Her patience and kindness was evident in everything she did while we were visiting. In the middle of all this she was called to serve in a leadership capacity at the Timpanogos Temple and continues to work towards earning her Family Research Certificate. While we were there she found out about a tragedy that occured to member of the ward. She mourned with the family and was right there to see if there was anything she could do to help.
Angela again worked her amazing magic to put together a beautiful wedding reception for Perry and MaKylee, being sensitive to their wishes for the perfect reception. While doing that she had put together a wonderful tribute for her dad who had passed away just weeks before the wedding. As the Stake Relief Society President, she is preparing for the upcoming Women's Conference in just a few weeks. Along with that she is working on her college classes, helping Ava as she settles into college, picks up the load because of Andy's injury and he isn't able to do as much as he usually would be doing. And of course, is there to encourage Caleb as he begins his first year of high school. She never seems to tire--but I know she is but will never quit giving all she has to serve others.
Becky is the most kind and friendly person. I am inspired at her ability to reach out to others and engage them in conversations on any subject. When you are with her you can't help but smile because she always has a smile on her face. She and Cathy share their ability of making plants grow and thrive and since moving to Illinois she has created a beautiful collection of flowers and plants both inside and out of her home. Just as in the other families, my grandchildren back East have the best of the best mother.
Amy amazes me on a daily basis. There doesn't seem to be anything that she can't do well. She spent much of the summer helping the three oldest get ready to start the Fall semester at BYU. She also made sure the three left at home settled into a new school year. On top of that she began teaching at a pre-school three mornings a week, and is serving as the Stake Primary President. It is so nice to live close to her. It is comforting to know that if there is anything I ever need she is always there to help me.

Blast From the Past!
A friend sent me this picture they found in the 1988 yearbook from Victor Valley High School. Thought you'd enjoy seeing what your dad (Uncle Bill) looked like when he had hair!

I had breakfast with Graham and Eden at their school in the morning and then enjoyed lunch with Duncan after he got out of school for Grandparents Day!

Tailgate & Celebrate
We had our first tailgate party last night and had a special treat. Lincoln had come down to celebrate one of his roommates wedding so we were able to celebrate his upcoming birthday.

Fall in Arizona
Okay, the truth is that there is no Fall in Arizona! So I decided that I would decorate my porch in the hopes that at least summer will soon be behind me. Typically I haven't been that bothered by our hot summers but this year I have had to admit I've had enough of the heat.
