Aunt Becky knows what I love! She sent these pictures from their vacation of the monument erected in honor of the Code Talkers. The Code Talkers were a group of Navajo Indians who during World War II made a significant contribution to the success of the war in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. Because of their effort the Japanese weren't able to know what was being done in relation to the battles that were being fought. In 1982 President Reagan made August 14 of each year the official celebration and recognition of those Marines who helped to make the world safer because of their ability to confuse the Japanese. While on the reservation they also went to an Indian Museum. Aunt Becky said that there was a display in the museum of "the long walk." She said there were sticky notes of people talking about their ancestors who were a part of that walk. It sounds like a wonderful place to visit!
