They also participated in service projects that involved making heart shaped pillows that hospitals give to women who are recovering from breast cancer surgery, crocheting hats and blankets for stillborn babies and they collected underwear and clothes for a local elementary school for children who have accidents at school and they aren't able to reach anyone to bring them a change of clothes
They had a welcome and gathering program for the sisters and each sister was given a paper leaf and asked to write why they were grateful for the Savior. The leaf was then tied onto a tree. The sisters had been asked to bring a picture of Jesus from their home for display. Those pictures were on the decorated table with the tree of leaves.
After the classes they had a catered lunch and wonderful homemade cookies baked by various sisters in the stake. Aunt Angela said they had so much help and everyone left with a wonderful experience that hopefully sustained them to go back into the world a little stronger and renewed. They had set up 30 tables with six place settings at each table and all but two of the tables were full. I've included some pictures!
