#17

We have another football player in the family.  Peter is playing football at his high school.  If he lived closer we would have a tailgate party for him!

Done!

After three performances, the curtain went down on Jane's play.  She worked hard and did a great job in her dual part as first a newscaster and then a zombie!

Aunt Becky

Aunt Becky sent me pictures of her latest project.  She got the chair for free and then was able to make it look like new again.  When I saw the damage on the arm I wondered if someone like Grandpa sat there and scraped the chair down to the wood.  Grandpa sat on our couch and literally rubbed a hole in the material with repeatedly scratching the cushion with his fingernail.

Homecoming 2024

After the invite and acceptance the rest involved shopping for a dress and shoes.  Flowers for the boutoniere and finding the right hair style.

Dress Rehearsal

Jane has been attending play rehearsals for a while and on Friday night they had their dress rehearsal for "Night of the Living Dead."  She has had a lot of fun being a part of the cast and the final performances will happen on Friday and Saturday.  Here are some pictures of Jane with makeup and without most of the makeup.  Next play is going to be Sense and Sensibility so the makeup won't be quite so alarming!

The California Duncans

This was from Uncle Andy about what is happening in Clovis.   Ava and I made some cards using a linocut process and this photo is the cards we made. One of the act9vitoes I did with Cakeb was about the constitution so I made him a powdered wig to wear.  I saw a slug when I was walking at lunch one day.  Caleb and I went camping at a place called Redinger Lake which was created by damming the San Joaquin River. We explored near the lake a while and saw some cool birds. Nearby was a marker for the geographic center of California so we went and saw that. Finally we went to a trail and hiked to the San Joaquin River.  Today was our ward party so we went to that. Ava made a poster for the Gooofy Golf event and she did some face painting. Ava went as Strawberry Shortcake and Caleb went as a SWAT officer.

Perry's Scenery

Perry gets to see so many interesting things on his job and these are some of the pictures he took recently.

This was taken from Perry's Apartment.  The Draper Temple
is the temple he sees.

Girls Getaway!

Katie and Abby took a trip last weekend to Arches National Park.  They picked a great time to go as the weather is starting to cool down.

She said Yes

Jane was invited to homecoming but the young man who invited her left town for Fiji with his family for a week.  He's back and Jane gave him the answer!  The problem was that as she was dropping it off someone drove into his driveway and she had to escape quickly so the YES didn't make it--but I think he knew she was excited to go with him.  Today she, Aunt Amy, and Eden are going dress shopping.

Florida Update

I know you have all been praying for the people of Florida and especially that Evangeline and Owen would be able to weather the storm and be okay.  I received a text from Aunt Becky this morning.  She wrote "Owen and Evangeline are doing fine.  Lost power last night and still don't have it but that was to be expected...hopefully will turn back on in a day or so."  Keep the people of Florida in your prayers and the other area in  the southeast as they build back their communities.

Friends

I have had a wonderful few days.  On Friday one of our first friends in Victorville, Beth and Joe Andreasen came for a weekend visit.  I love spending time with Beth and feel so grateful that our separation didn't separate me from her love and kindness over the years.  She and Joe will soon receive a mission call and wherever it is I know that we will stay connected.  Today I went to  lunch with two of my first friends in Gilbert.  Mary and Colin will soon be leaving for England to serve a mission for 18 months and Robyn doesn't live next store anymore but remains one of the greatest gifts I received when she moved in the apartment next to me.   Wherever they are I will work hard to maintain those friendships.
