Did you Know?
Your great-great-great grandparents Alexander Napoleon Noles and Vallie Virginia Rinker were married for 70 years when he passed away at 90. He was 20 and she 16 when they married. They had 17 children and 13 of them lived to be adults. As their health declined they went to live in a rest home (now we call them Assisted Care facilities). When they first got there they were in separate rooms and each morning the staff found that one or the other of them would come in to sleep with their sweetheart. After a while the home finally put them together in the same room. Vallie carried around a baby doll and kept it with her until she passed away in 1969. Their daughter Pearl was my grandmother. She died when my father was 9 years old which changed the whole trajectory of his life. In the hospital just before he passed away I walked over to his bed and he said, "are we ready to go momma?" It was a great comfort to know that he was again united with the mother he had missed all of his life.
