Caleb and I went to Carizzo Plains in March. We saw a historic site of an oil blowout that started the oil boom in this area. We stayed the night in a campground in the Carizzo Plains and did some exploring the next day. We went to the visitor center and went on a boardwalk trail near the "dry" lake in the center of the valley. After spending the morning there we went to an oil museum in a little town called Taft. They had a giant wooden oil derrick and other exhibits about the oil rush that happened there.
