Missionary Moments #31 April 5, 2015
We had dinner with the Elders on Friday night and Elder Betts said one of the things that has surprised him the most about his mission is how fast it is speeding by. I agree. It is hard to believe that we are entering our eighth month as missionaries. It has been such a wonderful experience and much more eventful that I would have imagined. Of course knowing that Rachel will be here in two weeks adds much to the excitement for us. With the exception of the big mountains of snow the ground is now covered with grass and green fields. We can drive along the curve when we are turning right now instead of swinging around a huge snow drift. Our drives are a little less treacherous but we have to watch our speed now because we aren't worried about skidding off the road. Preparing for conference was so exciting. The lady who works in our office area was gone on Friday and so we were able to listen to the October 2014 conference as we worked. I had forgotten the wonderful messages that had been shared and by the end of the day I couldn't wait for the April conference to begin. I have to say I was not disappointed. For the last two weeks the Duke's have come up from Boston to work with us. They are wonderful people and we have enjoyed visiting with them as we work together on document prep. It is always amazing to me when we are around people we never knew before and yet after just a few minutes we are visiting like long lost friends. I love the gospel. Since conference doesn't begin until noon we decided yesterday that we would go to a maple farm here in Concord. Once there I found out that the batteries on the camera were dead so no pictures. We will try again. Tapping the trees only lasts for a few weeks and if we don't get to see it next weekend it will be something that won't be possible again because we will be heading home before the next season comes. When we went to the Joseph Smith Memorial last weekend we were excited to see buckets hanging off of the maple trees all around that area. Apparently it is a big treat to put maple syrup on ice cream and I definitely want to try that. Today the Sisters are coming over for Easter dinner. I have my menu planned and even made bunny ear napkin rings (thank you Pinterest) so we are good to go. Hope all of you have a great day and enjoy the wonderful knowledge that Jesus Christ died to save us all. We are truly blessed.
