When we decided to serve a mission we had requested an over seas assignment so we applied for our passports. When our assignment was actually a little closer to home we had two passports so we decided that it would be a great time to go and see Niagara Falls. In case you think we were "slacking off" please be assured that we had received a call from the mission office saying that our apartment wouldn't be ready until Saturday and our furniture wouldn't arrive until a week later so we needed to take our time and enjoy some sightseeing as we traveled. We definitely did that! Driving into Canada was an interesting experience for us. The security was high both going into Canada and coming back into the United States. Fortunately, it wasn't as busy as it some times can be. Once in Canada we stopped and got some Canadian money to spend while we were there. The Falls were beautiful. It was kind of like visiting the Grand Canyon--only with lots of water. I took a picture of the boat ride you can take but believe me we had no interest in doing that. Just the noise and the mist was enough to satisfy our adventurous natures!
Once we saw everything we wanted we got back in the car and started again to our destination of Concord, New Hampshire. We arrived on Friday afternoon, checked into a hotel in Concord, changed our clothes and then went to the Mission Office in Bedford, New Hampshire. The Mission President was in Boston for his daughters wedding in the Boston Temple so we didn't get to meet him but we did meet Elder and Sister Skidmore. Elder Skidmore gave us an air mattress and promised that a table and two chairs would arrive within the day to our new apartment! We made due with that until the following Friday when our wonderful furniture arrived.
