California Duncans
On Saturday Uncle Andy and the family took a trip to San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach. He said they drove through miles and miles of blossoming trees and then through rolling hills covered with wildflower. Thank the rain! On their trip they saw the James Dean memorial, had lunch at the Cracked Crab. Apparently they have paper table clothes and the kids made pictures on them. The people in the restaurant had them cut them out so they could hang them up! From there they went to a monarch butterfly preserve and then walked to the ocean. After that they went to a famous old hotel call the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Apparently the hotel is famous because of how gaudy it is. In the men's restroom there was a big waterfall that you pee into for the urinal! From there they went to the mission downtown which was built in 1772 by Junipero Serra. Uncle Andy said it was pretty and well maintained. From there they took a walk over to Bubblegum Alley where people for years have lined the walls with chewed gum. (Yuck!) They also visited a candy and soda shop and an art museum. On the way home they stopped by a famous dairy in Hanford and got giant ice creams. Sounds like a lovely Saturday to me!
