She Did It!

Again we have another "cougarette!" in the family.  Ava found out this weekend that she was accepted to BYU beginning the winter term of 2025.  As you all know Ava graduated a year early from high school and applied to attend Brigham Young University.  She will take the BYU on-line courses beginning in January and will start in September 2025 at the BYU campus.  In the meantime she is taking classes at Clovis Community College, continuing to attend seminary and young women activities for the remainder of this year.  This summer she also took an art class at the Pasadena Art College of Design.  I don't doubt that she will do a great job and will be a great addition to the student body of BYU!

Italy

Lincoln is super busy but he did send this picture from the Bay of Naples.   It is of Mount Vesuvius.  It sounds like he is having a good time and working really hard.  He will be home two weeks after Labor Day.

Salt Lake City Temple

After having the opportunity to see Bill sustained as a Bishop on Sunday, and set apart afterwards by his Stake President, I drove to Draper where I was able to attend the sacrament meeting, and listen to Perry give an excellent talk.  Both experiences were wonderful!  When I left Draper I decided to drive farther north and see the progress that is being made on the Salt Lake Temple.  I took a few pictures from the car.  I look forward to being able to return after all the work is complete and walk the temple grounds.  It was in that temple that I fainted.  When I was revived I said to the temple worker who was sitting by me, "I'm sorry.  I think I'm a little bit pregnant."  She sweetly responded, "Honey, there is no little bit about it!"  She was right because almost nine months later I had a beautiful baby boy and we named him after his Granddad William Lambert and Grandpa Louis Clifford Duncan.

Perfect Puzzle People

Grandpa Duncan would be so proud to see the puzzles that Katie and Meg did.  I talked earlier about my limit of 300 piece puzzles only, but these two gave it their all and while Meg was here she put together 2 1000 piece puzzles and Katie took home a 1000 piece puzzle I had been given and gave up on after hours of work and very little success.  She didn't give up!

This is Katie Puzzle

And this was Meg's second one done she did while here

Happy Anniversary!

Missionaries!

I got pictures today from my great-nephew Stone Roberts (my niece Heidi's son) and pictures from Ruth on Tuesday.  Stone is serving his mission in Italy, and Ruth in Mexico.  Here are pictures of them with their current companions.

Connecticut Day 13

Today was our last real vacation day. We started the morning by going the Mystic Seaport Museum. It is actually much more than a museum. It has several different Museum exhibits in various buildings. One exhibit was yacht racing trophies, another exhibit was about glass models of simple ocean creatures, another was a collection of figures from the front of ships. In addition to the museums there was a whole village of typical shops that would have been in a shipbuilding community. There was a general store, a ship provisioner, a blacksmith, printshop, ropemaker, woodcarver and more. In many of the shops were experts demonstrating and sharing the history of the time. There were also a bunch of different historical buildings and displays about historical events such as historical cooking methods and the temperance movement. There were also a bunch of historical and modern vessels of various types. We really enjoyed it. After our morning there we had an Italian food lunch east coast style. We had pizza, calzones and grinders. We discovered ricotta cheese is more popular here then in the west but all the food was really good. Next we explored the shopping/ tourist district before heading to another lighthouse that was nearby and had good ocean views. Our time was running out and we had to head back to Boston to turn in the rental car. That done we got a ride to our last hotel where we await our flight home tomorrow and Ava started her online college classes which started today.

Massachusetts to Connecticut Day 12

Today was a simpler day because it was Sunday. We went to the Lexington Battlefield where the shot heard round the world rang out. We also saw some of the sites in the Minuteman National Park. We watched the broadcast of our home ward Sacrament meeting. We drove out to a lighthouse in Rhode Island and then to Mystic, Connecticut where we will doing things tomorrow. We did get some photos at the welcome sign and a fancy entrance to an old cemetary that is close to our hotel.
