We got up in Bangor, Maine but headed straight to the Island that Acadia National Park is on. We started at the visitors center to discover that it was not a well kept secret. From there we boarded shuttle busses and went to the first place we wanted to see which is called Wild Gardens of Acadia which is a botanical garden showcasing plants native to the island. We also went on a hike on a boardwalk trail there and saw frogs, bugs and plants. Next we loaded the shuttle bus and went to a place on the coast called Thunder Hole. There weren't huge waves so it was less thunderous than its potential but I did see some Eider ducks and a Black Guillermot while we ate our lunch. Our next stop was at a place called Jordan Pond which is what we call a lake in the arid west. We hiked around there along the lake and then went to a restaurant famous for popovers called the Jordan Pond Restaurant. Caleb and I shared a Bison meatloaf sandwich and we had blueberry lemonade and blueberry sodas. Angela had Lobster flatbread and Ava discovered her love for fresh mozzarella. We headed back to the final shuttle bus ride of the day which was the final shuttle bus running that day and we went back to the visitors center. We drove from there into the community on the island called Bar Harbor where our hotel was. We checked in but we were not done for the day. It was low tide and there is a path to an island that is underwater at high tide and is only exposed at low tide. We walked out to the island and watched the sun set. Finally we went to a cafe that is famous for their blueberry pie and finished the day with pie a la mode.
