CA Duncan's Vacation

We started our trip in Russian Gulch campground but had a fancy Italian meal in Mendocino before we got started there. There was a little waterfall and a hole in the ground where the ocean water came through called Devils Punch Bowl. The next day we went to a lighthouse and got ice cream in Ft. Bragg and had a picnic on Pudding Creek beach. Then we camped at MacKerricher Beach.

The next day we saw harbor seals and hiked the boardwalk trails before heading up to Humboldt redwoods. We camped there but not before picnicking on a bluff over the ocean hiking among the redwoods and finding frogs on the Eel River.

The next day we headed further north and drove through a community with preserved Victorian buildings and went to a place called Trinidad where there is a monument to Spanish explorers who traveled up the coast and Ava spotted 3 snakes. We camped that night at a campground called Sumeg.

The next morning we hiked around a bit at Sumeg, walked down to tide pools only to learn it was high tide. Ava saw 4 more snakes. Went to a recreated native American village. Then we headed north and stopped for lunch at a diner then went to Brookings, Oregon.

In Brookings we got some books at the thrift store, set up our last camp and cooked our dinner. The next morning I explored the tide pools and a local park and in the afternoon we all spent some time at the beach building driftwood structures, making sand castles, reading, resting and exploring. The next day was a long drive home where we saw an elk, some deer and more forest then you can even believe exists.
