Welcome Back Old Friends!

This week we began working on the next project at the Archives.  We are again capturing documents from probate files.  The first two days were very tedious and a little painful and I mentioned to Scott that I was so grateful that we didn't start our first project last year like this one because I would have been ready to go home!  For some reason whoever organized the Hillsborough County files decided to pull out all of the name changes in the probate files and keep them together.  In our last project they were intermingled throughout the collection of files.  Why was this so tedious?  Because we had over 800 file folders and each document was the same each of them.  Boring!  The good news is we finished them up this morning and on Tuesday when we get back to work we start our regular probates and believe me I now understand that variety is truly the spice of life!

Another aspect that is different for us is the document begin in 1791 and previously we began in 1860.  I feel honored to be a part of such unique and actually very worn yet beautiful documents.  It has also been nice to see the wonderful names of the past being used again--Eliphalet, Levi, Zebulon, Isaiah, Noah, Jacob, Eben, Josiah, Zechariah, and Silas.
